High-Temperature Resistance: Graphite electrodes are known for their excellent high-temperature resistance, making them suitable for use in extreme heat conditions. They can withstand the intense heat generated in electric arc furnaces, which can reach temperatures of several thousand degrees Celsius.

Conduction of Electricity: Graphite is an excellent conductor of electricity, which is essential in the electric arc furnace process. During operation, an electric arc is generated between the tip of the electrode and the raw materials, creating the high temperatures required for melting and refining metals.

Role in Steelmaking: Graphite electrodes are inserted into the furnace, and when an electric current is passed through them, they heat up and create an electric arc.
